Support the New Pole Mountain Fire Lookout

With your help, we’re close to completing the new and improved Pole Mountain Lookout! Thanks to the overwhelming support from our community, we’ve made significant progress, and we’re now in the final stages of construction. This state-of-the-art facility, built primarily from high-quality steel, will provide Sonoma County with a resilient and long-lasting fire lookout that enhances our community’s safety.

We now need just over $40,000 to cover the remaining essentials such as doors, windows, insulation, wiring, and final inspections. Every contribution, large or small, will bring us closer to completing this critical project in time for the next fire season.

Ongoing Partnership with Alert California

We’re excited to announce a partnership with Alert California to ensure that two essential fire cameras at the Pole Mountain Lookout remain operational 24/7. This collaboration reflects our shared commitment to the safety of our region through continuous fire monitoring.

Looking Forward: Volunteer Fire Watch Program

As part of our vision, we’re preparing to launch a Volunteer Lookout Program, modeled after the successful programs at the Dickson and Mount Tam Lookouts in Marin County. This program will empower dedicated volunteers to help monitor and protect our community. Updates on this initiative will be available on our website soon, but for a preview, here’s a video and article on a day in the life of a fire lookout volunteer.
